Lisa Miskovsky Little Bird Lyrics

Oh my little bird what have you done?
Fell in love with Mr. Setting Sun
So beautiful you made the sky your own
Then he disappeared, left you alone

You sang your song, you searched the blackest sky
You searched the stars, you lost your will to fly
And then the rain came pouring from a cloud
You begged the wind for mercy blow out loud

Can you hear it, can you hear it too
Can you hear it, can you hear it too
I know you fear it, I am here with you now

The wind was moving, fall was coming closer
The clouds were turning raindrops into sleet
Seagulls white like paper planes, shadows leaving with no names
You're burning with a fever I can feel
You're burning with a fever that is real

Do you hear it, can you hear it too
Can you hear it, can you hear it too
I know you fear it, I am here with you

Little bird you came a bit too close (I am here with you)
It's hard to reach the one you love the most (I am here with you)
And there's a part of you in everyone (I am here with you)
There's always a setting sun

I can feel it, I know you feel it too
You're stuck with me, cause I believe in you
You got it, I've got this fever too
You're sick with me, and my disease is you

Oh my little bird what have you done?
Fell in love with Mr. Setting Sun

Oh my little bird what have you done?
Fell in love with Mr. Setting Sun

Lisa Miskovsky Acceptable Losses Lyrics

Main street's empty in the evening chill
From courthouse tower to griffin mill
Small signs of winter come creeping down the hills

I saw your shadow on Jackson St.
where the zombie-eyed kids and the speed-queens meet
It's been a long time running thrugh my veins this long lost dream

And I tear it apart and burn it all down 'cause i have to
God gave me permission to do what it takes to find you

All the friends I betrayed all the enemies made in the process
We've all done the same we're just carrying different crosses
I'm feeling no pain baby, it's acceptable losses

This place got dark in the year's that passed
The store-fronts blown I guess nothing lasts
The fighting at the bars still draw wired vengeful crowds

I followed our trail down to Rosewood Park
As the shadows grow tall and the stars come out
Where the backseat lovers used to park their daddy's car

And I tear it apart and burn it all down 'cause i have to
Made a deal with a man at the crossroads who knew where to find you

All the friends I betrayed all the enemies made in the process
Our pain feels the same we're just carrying different crosses
It's all in the game baby, it's acceptable losses

They found your car down at Suicide Bridge
Where the Johnson twins became newsflash kids
But I know you so much better don't believe you'd call it quits

Now I got an old address and I'm waiting there
In the first light of morning at the fire stairs
I can hear someone coming and suddenly I'm scared

'Cause you ripped me appart and I ran for my life cause I had to
My heart won't stop bleeding and I'm no longer sure if i want it to

All the friends I betrayed all the enemies made in the process
They're all going down in account of acceptable losses
It's all in the game baby, it's acceptable losses

Lisa Miskovsky Mary Lyrics

I've come a long way
I thought it was possible
To love someone new
To forget about you

I've come a long way
And I thought it was possible
To love someone new
I am stronger than you

Chorus:
Mary, Mary
Can't get you out of my head
Mary, Mary
I won't forget what you said
Mary, Mary
Can't get you out of my head

We play a new game
Can you feel it racing through
My veins straight to you
So shallow and blue

This is a good day
And you're an acquired taste
That I learnt to brew
Now I've got to have you

Mary, Mary
Can't get you out of my head
Mary, Mary
I won't forget what you said
Mary, Mary
Can't get you out of my head

You are all that I've got
(I won't forget what you said)
You are all that I'm not
(Can't get you out of my head)
You are all that I've got

Mary, Mary
Can't get you out of my head
Mary, Mary
I won't forget what you said
Mary, Mary
Can't get you out of my head

Mary I need you to stay
(You are all that I've got)
Mary my love we're the same
(You are all that I've got)
Mary I want you to stay
(You are all that I've got)
Mary my love we're the same

Lisa Miskovsky Been Through This Lyrics

You've been through this before
You know where to find me
Someone's aiming at your cellar door
That someone's behind me

Sister, sister can't you see
That memories surrounds me
I recall what used to be
Love cannot blind me

Are you holding up joy
Do you still think it's all about you
With your head on desperate plans
And you count every grain of sand
Runs through your fingers to my hand
And we don't stand a chance

Searching through a pile of debris
Your whole life's down there
Searching makes you feel free
Nothing else compares

I'm waiting for a change to come
My expectations are low
You know, this is not the time for regret
It's time to let go

Are you holding up joy
Do you still think it's all about you
With your head on desperate plans
And you count every grain of sand
Runs through your fingers to my hand
Wish I could make you understand

Are you holding up joy
I guess we all need to know
Mirror, mirror you see
Who's refelecting me
There's a hole in the sea

And you still think it's all about you
When you're kneeling on the floor
Like a prisoner of war
Still you're begging me for more
You know I've been through this before

Are you holding up joy
I guess we all need to know
Mirror, mirror you see
Who's refelecting me
Are you missing me?

Are you holding up pride
I guess we all want to know
Mirror, mirror you see
He depends on me?
Are you missing me?
Are you missing me?
Are you missing me?

Lisa Miskovsky Foxholes Lyrics

Take me back
Into that doorway
When you're smile shone through the flame of your lighter

As I look down
You wipe the rain off my brow

Let me lose you again

Lisa Miskovsky California Heart Lyrics

Dry your wings little butterfly,
You've got a night to live and the daylight dies.
Try your wings little butterfly,
Whatever gets you through it's gonna bleed you dry.

I got blinded, I got winded,
By the blue-eyed dress and the silver tongue
Never lost your will to die
Never had the guts to fly

I knew that this would be so hard
Inside my california heart.

Close your eyes,
I won't hurt you.
Close your mind,
Love will hunt you down.

Dry your eyes little butterfly
You've got a night to kill now LA style
Backstabbed, wounded butterfly
You got the wings tied up and a purple sky

Say my name let your wings spread wide
Bring the cobwebs out of that killer smile
Morning came with razor light
Cutting white knives through the blinds

I knew that this would be so hard
Inside my california heart.

Close your eyes,
I won't hurt you.
Close your mind,
Love will hunt you down.

This time I had you from the start
(This time I had you from the start)
You broke my california heart
(You broke my california heart)
I fear my ember's turned to dark
(I fear my ember's turned to dark)
You broke a california heart

Close your eyes,
I won't hurt you.
Close your mind,
Love will hunt you down.

This time I had you from the start
(This time I had you from the start)
You broke my california heart
(You broke my california heart)
Your skin's so glowing in the dark
(You broke my california heart)
Your rains are flowing with the stars

This time I had you from the start
You broke my california heart
I fear my ember's turned too dark

Lisa Miskovsky Sweet Misery Lyrics

Plug it in, take it back, pull my head out
And don't doubt
The way that you feel

Shove it in, you can win
Noone answers
The dancers, I'm ready to deal

Maybe this is all a joke to you
I know, I feel it too

You're my sweet little, sweet little misery
You're my sweet little, sweet little misery
You're my sweet little, sweet little misery
You're my sweet little, sweet little misery

Black and blue, where are you, I came through though
I said so
The things that you do

Let me go, let it show, she's a loser
But you choose her
Making you feel

Maybe I love everyone you know
Who's that, I let it show

You're my sweet little, sweet little misery
You're my sweet little, sweet little misery
Now the word's out on the street, they say we're history
You're my sweet little, cheap little misery

You're my sweet little, sweet little misery
You're my sweet little, sweet little misery
Now the word's out on the street, they say we're history
That's why I, I need my, I need my misery

Lisa Miskovsky Last Year's Song Lyrics

Let's begin where the story ends
I'll try to explain how I lost my friends
I didn't stop when I knew I should
I've got nothing now, it's gone for good

I guess they want me dead, a bounty on my head
I say just let them come, yeah bring them on
Are you listening now, can I get through somehow
I've been waiting for so long
This is last year's song

It all began in this prayed up town
(You were looking for a way out, love strapped you down)
I turned and ran as we were taking our vows
It sure is hard to run in a wedding gown

So I stole your car, and ran it through your heart
And the radio was on, playing last year's song
And if you're listening now, can I get through somehow
You know I never did you wrong
That was last year's song

I heard you fell in love again (with what's her name)
She used to be my friend (not anymore)
I hope you'll make it in the end, I'm free now

No I'm not afraid now, no, no, no I'm not afraid now
Yeah I'm on my way now and I got through somehow

If you're listening now, I bet you hear that sound
Of the preacher's raging on, banning last year's song

Are you listening now, did I get through somehow
When you're finally catching on, then I'm gone, like last year's song

I'm not afraid now
It's gone away now, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're on your way now
It is New Year's Day now and I got through somehow

Lisa Miskovsky As Daylight Fades Lyrics

We took down the scarecrows and covered the windows
I noticed your fingers were trembling like leaves

You made me a shelter in your closet of skeletons
I go through your records and play "Let it Bleed"

Black clouds are moving as you move inside me
You strip me of pleasures, you hunt and i pray

Repeating your stories, you know that thay bore me
Shining around me a halo so cold

Hey, the hero's on the move
Yeah that's what I wanna do
And I'm gonna look down
Hey, hey I'm waiting for you to come down
So we could change places and be hounds of love
Leave the ground behind

Black hail is falling and he won't stop calling
You have to go back there to find your way home

I find the house empty, so hollow yet tempting
You left me a letter that I'll never read

I used to believe him, I used to deceive him
My treasure was pride and so easy to steal

And that's what they came for, that's what thay aim for
The storm is all over and I'm all alone

Hey, the hero's on the move
Yeah that's what I wanna do
And I'm gonna look down
Hey, hey I'm waiting for you to come down
So we could change places and be hounds of love
Leave the ground behind

We are, we are the last of our kind
We are, we are the road that you mined

Stepped into a light, jumped into a lake
Deeper than the grave I faked
You know you'll never learn so watch me while I burn

I opened the windows to feel how the wind blows
Sure there's a new scent of spring in the air
And baby, it's funny, I know you're still running
I left you behind me, now I stand still

Lisa Miskovsky Please Lyrics

Don't look back when your kingdom glows
Don't look down 'cause it's ready to show
You had a choice but the apple fell too far from the tree

Change, change come on it is too late
You started praying when you lost your faith
Nobody's waiting and it's quiet down by the gate

Please, please
Be there waiting in the tunnel by the end of the light

Who's gonna cry when the whistle blows
The train is leaving and nobody knows
So lift your veil so I can see who's chasing me

Somebody loved you but that somebody's gone
You wait for darkness but you long for the dawn
It's right beside you but your lips are too dry for words

Please, please
Be there waiting in the tunnel by the end of the light

When you run the chase has begun
Hey now look into her eyes and
Tell me that you don't believe what i see
Hey now don't go hiding your emotions
I know you'll go further and I can't stop you

Please

Lisa Miskovsky Once Gone Always Missing Lyrics

I know
You know
You knock
But I won't let you in

I hear
I see
They know
But they don't understand
And I won't hear

You gave me hard eyes
Won't let my guard down
But you taught me the rules
And the scars in a way set me free

Starlight, like the stars in your sky all alone
Yeah you know it's cruel but it's cool and the sparks of the sea
And when Jesus did there's nobody here to blame

So long
You're wrong
I am
Just another lamppost on your street

They scream
So loud
But I
I can't hear your name
Do you feel the same?

You gave me hard eyes
Won't let my guard down
But you taught me the rules
And the scars in a way set me free

Starlight, like the stars in the sky all alone
Yeah you know it's cruel but it's cool and the sparks of the sea
And when Jesus did there's nobody left to blame

You gave me hard eyes
Won't let my guard down
But you taught me the rules
And the scars in a way set me free

Starlight, like the stars in your sky all alone
Yeah you know it's cruel but it's cool and the sparks of the sea
And when Jesus did there's nobody here to blame

And all the things we left unsaid
I feel them rushing to my head
And in the sky above my head
I can tell that the stars...

And the things we left unsaid
I feel them rushing to my head
And in the sky above my head
I can tell that the stars...

Lisa Miskovsky 20th of December Madison Avenue Lyrics

You walk me through the park where all the dark spots lit by snow
You talk me through the part as if you're starring the show
I hate you 'cause of the way these Gotham snowflakes lick your hair
I hate you 'cause I need you, 'cause I know that you don't care
You remind me I'm no longer young

It's the 20th of December, Santa's looking kind of worn
The windows shine like embers and every year there's more
I don't think I look much older, but I'm not the one to ask
Nostalgia's getting bolder with every day that passes
It reminds me I'm no longer young

Back then the streets were paved with light,
As if this town was built by night
And our steps like hyperspace flight,
In a universe that was ours by right

You look at me through lenses of ideas that were never mine
You're shooting cross the trenches, in the world war of your mind
You've gone and hit old Sancho between the halo and the eyes
Bet he didn't see it coming just the tunnel and the light

So go away and pray baby, come back when you can cry
It's Christmas time remember, the least you should do is try
The 90's like the weak link in the chain around my heart
And the place I've built within it's like an island off the charts
You step in like a tow truck, and tear my world apart

Yawning like a housecat playing cruelly with the mouse
You're shouting cross the trenches to steal my peace of mind
It was you who killed the angels, you the greatest lover of all time
You're just a petty thief now, in the universe of small crime
You remind me I'm no longer young

Back then the streets were paved with light
As if this town was built by night
And our steps like hyperspace flight,
In a universe that was ours by right

Lisa Miskovsky - Changes Review
lisa miskovsky changes album review

Lisa Miskovsky and Joakim Berg have co-written and produced a new album titled Changes and released on August 30, 2006. It's an amazing album. Not surprisingly the song writing is brilliant, and the production is a perfect balance of simplicity mixed with Lisa's beautiful singing and instruments such as strings and bells, making it super easy to listen to. So far my favourite songs are Little Bird, Please, and Mary.

I wrote a mini review of each of the songs on the album Changes by Lisa Miskovsky, co-written and produced by Joakim Berg:

Little Bird - This is a great opener. An infectious beat and the chanting really gets you drawn in.

Acceptable Losses - This is a really good upbeat pop song without quite being one of the album standouts. I enjoyed the mentality behind the lyrics. "All the friends I betrayed, all the enemies made in the process. They're all going down in account of acceptable losses."

Mary - One of the album highlights. Angelic vocals, very sweet lyrics, and a very catchy song. Has a country feel about it. Feels kind of odd to have a woman singing a love song about "Mary".

Been Through This - A slower ballad. I'm not really into this as much as a lot of the other songs.

Foxholes - Just a 1 minute filler. Very slow. Kind of pointless really.

California Heart - Some of the nicest vocals on the album, especially in the chorus. Definitely one of the better songs.

Sweet Misery - A very light sounding pop song. Easy listening but certainly not a track that stands out above the others.

Last Years Song - A quite good pop song. Easy to listen to, though I haven't fallen in love with it.

As Daylight Fades - This is great. A slowish ballad. The piano is brilliant all the way through especially at the end. Very pretty. One of the best songs.

Please - Another album highlight. A very catchy pop/rock song. Great instruments.

Once Gone, Always Missing - Probably the best song on the album. A brilliant slow ballad of sheer beauty. The production and arrangement are really great. Wonderful singing. When the slow drums and piano begin a third of the way in, it creates a fantastic haunting moment. Strings are used to great effect too, and the piano solo/riff in the final minute leave a lasting impression.

20th of December Madison Avenue - A simple ballad. Just her singing and a piano playing. Very intraspective, reflective lyrics. More than just a tinge of sadness to the tone of this album closer.

Highlights: Little Bird, Mary, As Daylight Fades, Please, Once Gone Always Missing
